John Damian Marsh, 91, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the early morning hours of Thursday (February 20, 2020) following an extended illness. John was born on April 13, 1928 in Catskill, NY to the late Damian John & Loretta (Hackett) Marsh.
John unselfishly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a television camera school graduate. John retired from Southern Bell and New Jersey Bell after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed making lead soldiers, glass blowing, making archery arrows, hunting, fishing, gardening, baking, square dancing, and attending craft shows with his wife. He was a 3rd degree knight with the Knights of Columbus. He served as a Head Usher for over 20 years. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Marsh; brother, Michael Marsh; and sister, Marie Haines.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Joan Marie Marsh; two sons, Tad Marsh & wife Rhonda and Thomas Marsh; daughter, Beth Ann Habermas & husband Thomas; brother, Joe Marsh; sister, Catherine Decker; eight grandchildren, Nicole Elam, Erika Marsh, Taylor Marsh, Jordan Marsh, John Habermas, Maggie Habermas, Will Habermas, and Katie Habermas; “furry-friend”, Angel; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
John will be laid to rest on Tuesday (March 3, 2020) at 2 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265.
