One or the other must leave, one or the other must stay, one or the other must grieve, that is forever the way. That is the vow that was sworn, faithful ’til death do us part. Braving what was to be born, widening the ache in the heart. One how so ever adored, first must be summoned away. That is the will of the Lord – one or the other must stay!

Jonathon Kenneth Hansford passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2021. Jonathon leaves a legacy of love and charisma with his family and all that knew him. He was a beloved husband, father, and son, sibling former Army Green Beret. We were all so grateful to have had Jonathon and know his sweet smiling face, the fearless, best friend, encourager, mentor that he was! Jonathon was born in Maryville, TN on February 28, 1986. After high school, he followed his father’s footsteps of a military career. Joining the army in 2006, he soared in achievements and success with the Army. Honor graduating with Ranger tab, SERE school, and Special Forces tab, Green Beret. Serving multiple deployments with the 82nd Airborne Division. Along with Special Forces Group ODA 7124. Jonathan was proud of his military career, as he should be; he was a true soldier willing to lay his life down for our country.

Jonathon was always the light of the room! A smile that could charm all, charisma for days, and the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met.

My dear son, I miss you so much.
It keeps hurting; I can't stop crying.
My eyes always search for you in the sky.
My heart longs for finding you in the heavens.

My dear son, I love you so much.
I feel so empty without you.
I am so scared of my future without you.
My heart longs for being around you for my safety.

My dear son, you are my angel.
I still feel that you are caring for me from above.
I tell my broken heart that you are still watching me.
My heart longs for your care even from heaven.

My dear son, you are my protector.
I remember you when I feel lonely.
I talk to you when I break into pieces.
My heart longs for your support even from heaven.

My dear son, I was thinking I gave you life.
The reality is that you had given me life.
Without you and your presence, I can't exist.
My heart longs for your company in my heart until I exist.
Please be there in my heart.

Jay was ALWAYS the life of the party, making sure everyone had a good time. His smile was contagious and his charm undeniable. I was blessed to have spent many years making memories with this amazing man. While he will be missed so very much by so many, I hope he now has the inner peace he so yearned for while on earth. Jay until I see you again I will treasure the memories we made together.... Myrtle Beach, INDEPENDENCE, Savannah Smile's, Abram Falls, Ranger School, Dahlonaga, Selection "pick up that weakness and put it in your pocket", ruck marching together, late night study sessions, Spanish lessons, SERE, Halo school, Yuma drive home, Oscar, Sniper, Kilts on Halloween, graduating college at your insistence, encouragement, and support, the many moves, and so much more. Thank you for sharing part of your life with me. All my love, K

Elementary and middle school was such a joy because of you. You made school easy for a country bumpkin like myself.
I enjoyed so much catching up with you back in November of 2020 which was sparked over a patriotical post that I had posted. I was so glad that I finally got to thank you for your service in the Army from my little family .
I posted the school picture it seemed fitting "Most Likely to Succeed "and Succeed you did in the time on Earth that was cut way too short.
I'm so proud to call you a friend and so proud of the success you made in the Army, family, and fatherhood.
Your light through your smile and laughter will be forever missed and I am truly saddened.
I wish we could have done the cook off with you and my husband the summer
Prayers for your family, wife ,and son you will be forever missed but not forgotten

I have so many memories with him. He really helped me get myself together after a long while of not doing it. He was hilarious and that smile was so contagious. I really miss working out with him because he made it so much fun. We did our own thing but would pass each other going to get a drink or something and he’d always have something hilarious to say. I love ya bro and miss ya like crazy. Til We All Reach Valhalla

Jonathan was truly the best friend I have ever had. He always pushed me to be the best I could be and I always say that if it weren't for him I may not have became who I am. I owe my success to him. His words stuck with me even when we had gone months without seeing each other. Every day I remember the laughs, fun shenanigans, and him just being the absolute number one best friend I could have ever asked for. I will always miss him dearly but I am thankful for the time I was able to spend with him because in the short time I had with him felt like a lifetime friendship.

Jonathon, Emiley and Tyler came to the house after a time of adventure spending time showing Tyler the area. Jonathon would eat canned trout that his fath-in-law had made. Not to be behind in what his dad was doing, Tyler dug in and ate just as much canned trout as his dad. Those two ran over the property and messed around in our creek. What a special day! ♥️ I hope it stays a such a huge memory for Tyler. I sure won’t forget. Emiley said Tyler fell asleep fast after that day of adventure! 🥰🥰

I remember the first time I ever met jay; Cole and I had drove up to see him and Emiley and we had gone out to dinner and went to bdubs as jay would call it “the best of the best”. We sat at the table just eating and cutting up the whole time. Jay had a smile that you can remember like the back of your hand. Treated me like a little sister and I grateful I got to meet him and be good friends with him. Two weeks ago Emiley and jay came to visit us and met my now 10 month old son and absolutely fell in love with him. Jay fed him and laughed the whole time while he had it all over him. Keep a watch for us on the highest peak. We love and miss you bunches!
