Joshua Shane Widener

Joshua Shane Widener, age 23, entered into rest May 3 , 2011. Joshua was born January 6, 1988 in Kingsport, Tn. to Jeff and Pam Widener and was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rebecca Jean Widener.

Joshua was a 2006 graduate of Sullivan South High School, where he was actively served in JROTC, Band, and on the Football team. He was also honored by achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 387. Joshua was an EMT/ Fire Fighter with Warrior’s Path Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his parents Jeff and Pam Widener, sister, Nicole Widener all of Kingsport; paternal grandfather Sam Widener of Damascus, Va.; maternal grandmother Hester Dye,

maternal great grandmother Flossie Rasnake Fields, uncle Rod Dye all of Abingdon, Va.;

several great uncles and great aunts.

The family will receive friends today, Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Strong officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Warrior’s Path Volunteer Fire Department in Joshua’s memory.
