Joyce McCoy Bellamy

Joyce McCoy Bellamy, 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Bellamy was born on July 25, 1922 in Sunbright, Tennessee the daughter of the late Sam McCoy and Madge Parham McCoy. Mrs. Bellamy was a homemaker and was a very loving mother and grandmother. She became a member of the Blountville Presbyterian Church when she was sixteen years of age. Her ministry there was placing beautiful fresh flowers in the church every Sunday for service, a member of the church choir, helping with Vacation Bible School and was very active in the women’s circles. Mrs. Bellamy was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College having earned her Associates Degree in Art. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jess Bellamy. Mrs. Bellamy is survived by three sons, David Bellamy and wife Gloria, of Newark, DE, Tom Bellamy of Seattle, WA and Robert Bellamy and wife Lisa of Franklin, TN; one daughter, June Marie Barker and husband Donald of Signal Mountain, TN; five grandchildren, Lori Bellamy and husband Mark, Seth Atkinson and wife Janette, Andrew Barker and wife Nicole, Matthew Barker and wife Sarah and Kelly Ann Barker; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Joyce McCoy Bellamy will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Blountville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Sullivan officiating. Committal and interment will follow in the Garden of Hope of East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andrew Barker, Frank Bellamy, Seth Atkinson, Bill Wilmoth, Ed Bowers and Charles Mays. The family will receive friends Monday, June 2, 2014 in the Blountville Presbyterian Church from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Blountville Presbyterian Church, 3400 Highway 126, Blountville, TN 37617 or to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620. The family would like to say a special thanks to Bill and Sharon Wilmoth, her church family and neighbors who assisted Mrs. Bellamy through the years.
