Joyce Bledsoe, 75, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Greystone Health Care Center.
Joyce was considered to be “as tough as nails” by those who knew her. Nevertheless, with everything she went through, she kept a smile on her face and remained jovial. She worked for 30 years at the Greenwood Market. After retirement, she took up cooking for her neighbors; making sure everyone got treats during the holidays. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always provided for her children before herself.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maxie and Charlie Walter Cumbow, her husband of 33 years, Harold Bledsoe, siblings: Lockie Gray, Hunter Cumbow, Emily Mays, Velma Byington, Millard Cumbow, Denver Cumbow, Marcella Cumbow and special friend Weston Keeton.
Joyce is survived by her son Jason Bledsoe (Kim); daughters Sandra Gay Sanders and Cynthia Bledsoe Williams (Bob); sister Fannie Kiser; grandchildren Brandon C. Bledsoe, Jason Williams (Toni), and Beth Williams; great-grandchildren Brayden Bledsoe, Avery Bledsoe, Parker Bledsoe and Presley Williams; many nieces and nephews; and her grand dog Kenzie.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Greystone Life Center. Special thanks to Deborah Grimes and Darlene "Deedee" Lowe for their special care. Also the family wants to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Mountain States Health Alliance Hospice, with special thanks to Sarah Beth, Angie and Ruby for their care.
