Kate Goodman

Kate Goodman, age 92 of Blountville, entered into the glories of Heaven to be with her Heavenly Father during the early morning hours of Friday, January 20, 2017. Kate was born on February 13, 1924 in Piney Flats, TN to the late Clem Hicks and the late Belle Hicks. During the summer of 1943, Kate married her best friend and love of her life, Mr. Herman Goodman, and after 62 years of a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death in 2005.

Kate was a woman who valued every minute, of every day. She loved gardening and she was a hard worker. Her devotion to her family and church was immeasurable, and the love that she had for all of God’s creation was immense. Kate has left a beautiful garden of memories for her family and friends to treasure for a lifetime.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Herman; five brothers, Vernon Hicks, Red Hicks, Ivan Hicks, Kenneth Hicks, and Lester Hicks; and three sisters, Nellie Dunn, Vona Bridwell, and Jessie Milhorne. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Wayne Goodman, Hal Goodman and wife Rickie; granddaughter, Lori Beth Tauscher and husband Adam; and three great-grandchildren, Collin, Amelia, and Leo.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church Blountville – General Fund.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 10:30 am at East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Clay Austin officiating. Interment will follow at East Tennessee Cemetery, located at 2630 Hwy 75, Blountville, TN 37617. Serving as pallbearers will be Randall Hicks, Danny Hicks, Dennis Rhoton, J.P. Roller, Chris Hickman, and Gary Baker.
