Kim Lyon, 54, passed away on Thursday (April 7, 2016) while doing one of her favorite pastimes: walking the Greenbelt while listening to audio books and music on her iPod. Kim was born May 19, 1961 to the late J Frank & Frankie Lyon. Kim was a long-time art teacher in Sullivan County, currently serving at Sullivan Elementary School and Middle School. Her first love was leading children to experience different artistic styles expressed throughout art history by teaching them how to appreciate varied artistic mediums and how an artist thinks. She loved to read, and was the model of what it means to be “a friend”. She also honed the art of sarcastic humor.
Kim is survived by her brothers, Jim & wife Janet Lyon of Kingsport and Greg Lyon of Raleigh, NC; nephew, Devin & wife Abby Lyon of Knoxville; most special friend, Danny Fleming; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday (April 11, 2016) from 4 to 6 p.m. at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church (631 Lebanon Road Kingsport, TN 37663). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Colonial Heights United Methodist Church (631 Lebanon Road Kingsport, TN 37763). Online condolences may be made to the Lyon family at www.eastlawnkingsport.com. East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park has the honor of serving the Lyon family.
