Lawrence Maynard Williams, 82, passed into the loving arms of Jesus during the evening hours of Thursday (January 23, 2020). Maynard was born on July 10, 1937 in Sneedville, TN to the late Joe Timothy & Cynthia Ellen (Collins) Williams.
Maynard unselfishly served our county in the United States Army. He retired from Holston Defense after 35 years of dedicated service. Maynard was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling to the beach, UT Football, and spending time with his family and friends. Maynard was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Williams and T.J. Williams; and a sister, Mildred Fugate.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Stephen Williams & wife Beverly; daughter, Angie Williams; brother, Randy Williams; three grandchildren, Corey Williams, Nate Williams, and Zeke Williams; great-grandson, Hendryx Williams; mother of his children, Faye Williams; special friend, Helen Cross; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday (January 26, 2020) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home at 7 p.m. with Pastor Travis Pierson officiating.
Committal services will be held on Monday (January 27, 2020) at 11 a.m. in the Garden of Love with Pastor Alan Buckles officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Williams, Greg Williams, Tim Williams, Nate Williams, Zeke Williams, and Andy Clevinger. Military rites will be provide by American Legions Posts 3/265.
