Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. That was her first and primary vocation. She worked for many years as a substitute teacher at Central High School in Sullivan County and as a Chemistry and Math teacher at Tennessee High School in Bristol, TN.
Linda loved Jesus and loved encouraging others. She was a skilled pianist and organist and used her skills to glorify God by playing in multiple churches through the years, including her home church of Indian Springs Baptist Church. Linda loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and looked forward to the times when she could play host to the whole family during holidays. She was proud of the accomplishments of each child and grandchild. Linda also volunteered her time at church as the chairperson of the counting team and as an Awana leader, continuing to teach children God’s Word.
Linda is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, Jim Carson, and by her children, Matt Carson and wife Desha, and Cathy Davenport and husband Tim; her grandchildren, Julie Coffman and husband Drew, Kaylie Richmond, David Davenport, Micah Carson, Nathan Carson and Jenna Carson. She is also survived by her siblings, Lorrie DeVol and husband Ben, and Ken Perry and wife Val. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack (Ray) and Helen Perry, and by her daughter, Laura Richmond.
A celebration of Life service will be held at Indian Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 7, 2024 at 7:00PM. The service will be preceded by a visitation time from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A private family burial will take place later in the week.
For 40 years, Linda and Jim have been supporting missionaries with SIM USA, a mission organization which operates throughout Africa. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Indian Springs Baptist Church with a designation to support SIM USA.
