

Lionel William Grady, 93, of Kingsport, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 on Wilcox Hall at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born on January 14, 1922 in Marion, VA, he was the son of the late John Clinton Grady and Delia Johnson Grady.
Mr. Grady served in 77th Division in the American Theatre during World War II and in the United States Army Air Corps as a Bomb Disposer in Occupational Germany following the war. Following his service to his country, Mr. Grady worked as a Postal Clerk for the United States Post Office until his retirement. He was an avid gardener and a giving and compassionate individual.
In addition to his parents, John Clinton and Delia Johnson Grady, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 58 years, Dorothy Lee Grady; sisters, Regina Blankenship and Lockie Blankenship; and brothers, Virgil Grady, Cecil Grady, Dave Grady and John Grady.
He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Bridwell and her husband, George; son, Bill Grady and his wife, Kristi; grandchildren, Allison Cumesty and her husband, Chris; his brothers and sisters, Agnes Farris, Derwood Grady and his wife, Pat, Charles H. Grady, Laurel Chapman, Bonnie Ratliff and her husband, James, Ruby Henderson and her husband, Arthur, and Edith Rector and her husband, C.W.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 11, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the Garden of Prayer of East Lawn Memorial Park.
