

2 Timothy 4:7-8, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Lizzie Jane Shaffer, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Wexford House. Mrs. Shaffer was born on August 15, 1921 in Hiltons, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Henry Browder and Martha McMurray Browder. She was a very loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and attended Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her family, her flowers and her cats. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carson D. Shaffer; one son, Billy Wayne Shaffer; five sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include four sons, Bobby Shaffer, Pastor Dewey Shaffer and wife Brenda, Randy Shaffer and wife Sherry, and Terry Shaffer and wife Christine; three daughters, Francis Sims, Jeanette Sawyers and husband Fred, and Brenda Maples; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; special friends, Bill and Linda Hammonds; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home or any other time at the home of Dewey Shaffer. Funeral Services for Mrs. Lizzie Jane Shaffer will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Freddie Miller, Rev. Ronnie Horne, and Rev. Dewey Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, 191 Central Heights Road, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Wexford House.
