Lois Matlock

Lois Jean Merrow Matlock, 83, of Kingsport, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Lois was born in Springfield, Ohio, to Carroll and Lucille (Hayes) Merrow. She was a lifelong educator, having received her degree at King College in Bristol, and taught at several local Christian schools during a career that spanned over 30 years. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Kingsport.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Barry) Brown and Diana Matlock; sons, Stephen (Tracy) Matlock and Kevin Matlock; granddaughters, Maria Matlock (fiance Jay Eros), Nancy Matlock, Laura Matlock, Bethany Brown, and Ava Matlock; grandson, Brian Brown; sisters, Carol Bull and Elaine Kraus; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Loretta Anspaugh; brother, Charles Merrow; and her husband, Roy Matlock.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24th, from 6:00 pm–8:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Boulevard, Kingsport, Tennessee, 37664. The funeral service will take place Friday, September 25th, at 10:00 am at Bible Baptist Church, 246 Hilton Street, Kingsport, with Pastor Walter Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
