Malcom Darrell Scalf, age 71, of Kingsport passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Holston Rehabilitation and Care Center. Malcolm Scalf was born on April 20, 1955, in Snowflake, Virginia, to Ransome and Nella Bledsoe Scalf. He became a skilled auto mechanic, working professionally and as a side endeavor, and was of the Baptist faith. Malcolm found comfort in outdoor activities like fishing and hunting during his younger years. Known for his warmth and integrity, he treasured his friends and family, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Gerald Scalf and sister Gladys Barker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Michelle Scalf; son Shannon Kerns (Kayla); brothers Leon D. Scalf (Regina), Vanus C. Scalf (Cathy), Cecil F. Scalf (Dulcie), and Larry D. Scalf (Jean); sisters Lorraine Brooks, Carolyn Griffin (Marvin), and Wilma Compton (Leland); along with a number of nieces, nephews, and friends that loved him dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 12:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Vanus Scalf officiating. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the service.
