

Mamie Lou “Ginger” Cain, age 85 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord at 3:50 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center. Born in Springfield, West Virginia a daughter to the late John and Izora Martin, Ginger had resided in this area since 1982. She married her late husband of sixty-five years; Clarence Charles Cain on June 18, 1944, Ginger was also preceded in death by a brother and sister. She was a homemaker and a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. Ginger found great pleasure for the past seven years in singing with her sister Betty, they were known as the “Singing Sisters”. They would go entertain at local nursing homes, hospitals and visiting the homebound. She served her Lord by encouraging others. Her legacy will be love. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Gail Cain-Omwake and husband Eo of Oxford, Pennsylvania and Addie Kay Peters and husband Steve of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Sgt. Chad Peters and wife Christy, Brandon Peters, Jason Cain and wife Kate, Rebecca Harr and fiancée Bubba Ferguson; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy Peters, Petty Officer 3rd Class Jacob Peters, Logan Harr, Preston Harr, Wyatt Peters, Aiden Cain and Lola Cain; one sister, Betty Neurdenburg and husband Bill of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Sgt. Chad Peters, Brandon Peters, Jason Cain, Jeremy Peters, Rebecca Harr and Steve Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Petty Officer 3rd Class Jacob Peters, Chuck Neurdenburg, Bill Neurdenburg, Sr. and Bill Neurdenburg, Jr. Photography of the service will be provided by Christy Peters.
