Dear Decker Family,
Paul and I were so very saddened when we were told of Kat's death.  We had lost touch when we moved from Enterprise, and were told much later your family had moved but we did not know where.  Knowing how much she loved Tennessee, we were not surprised when we learned that was where you relocated. We, too, remember her dry sense of humour and quick wit with much fondness.  We are praying for you, your children, and family as you work through this transition and we want to encourage you that she is in your future waiting for that reunion.  We remain your friends,

Mr. Decker, Jeff, and Jonne,
I'm so sorry for your loss of Mrs. Decker.  She was a wonderful person to know!  I'll always remember her excellent teaching skills, her great energy, and her thoughtfulness to everyone.  God bless you and we all can be assured Mrs. Decker is happy in the presence of the Lord.

Mrs. Decker taught my brother (Jerry Bedsole) and me.  She was an excellent teacher and taught history in a way that made you think you were really there when it all took place!   When my brother was killed in an automobile accident, she came to our home to express her sympathy and to talk with my parents.  I remember that vividly.  It made a favorable impression on my family!   Then a year later, I had her as a teacher.   During that year, my father died.  Mrs. Decker was so understanding and hepful to me during that time in my life.  I will never forget her!  Jane Bedsole Martin

Ms. Decker was an awesome teacher.  She loved teaching, and her students. I think of my writer's cramps from the numerous notes, and then remember that she had to write five times that amount!

I had Mrs. Decker in the ninth grade at EHS.....freshman year.  There were four grades then.  I had Mrs. Decker for Civics. She had a different accent (TN) than us. We argued the pros and cons of George Wallace.  I got to know her better when I became a teacher.  I really  LOVED her.  She was a GREAT teacher!

Richard,Jeff and Jonne. When I came to Enterprise in 1963 and attended the meeting for new teachers, Katherine was the first person I met and remained a good friend for thirty years. My deepest sympathy.

At Enterprise High, I was getting my first basketball start as a junior against our rival, Northview.(Spring of 1985). In History class, I asked Mrs. Decker if she was coming to the game and she responded with she had not been to a basketball game in 20 years. I told her if she loved me, she would come see me in my first start and she laughed. That night, in pre-game warm ups, I looked over and Mrs. Decker was sitting on the front row and she winked at me! I gave her a big hug the next morning in class. I have never forgotten that!!! She was more than a teacher, she was special!

My heart goes out to your family at this time and in the days ahead.

I had Mrs. Decker in High School. She was a wonderful teacher. My prayers are with the family and friends during this time.

Jonne, Jeff, and Richard,
There is no way to express my feelings over the loss of Kat.  She was a true friend for many years.  As teachers at EHS, we became lifelong friends.  I admired and respected her as the total embellishment of an outstanding teacher. She taught me so much about teaching and the honor of being a well-prepared, good teacher.  More important, she was a true and loyal friend.  I loved her so.  Of all her outstanding qualities, her sense of humor was the best.  I can laugh now about many jokes she told and the many stories we had about her antics. No doubt she is charming heaven with that wit and chuckle.

Jo and I fondly remember our personal times with Katherine and her family. I also remember how she helped me when I began teaching at EHS. Her dedication and professionalism taught me what a teacher should be. Our prayers are with her family.

Dear Richard, Jeff and Jonne,

I want you to know how sorry I am to hear of Katherine's passing. She was a very special lady to me. She taught me in 1963 and I had the pleasure of teaching with her from 1975 until she retired in 1992. I always considered her my role model and mentor as a teacher. She was the best I have ever seen. She not only taught me but my son as well. Over the 30 years, she influenced so many young people. She was an asset to Enterprise High School and will always be a part of the legacy of excellence our system still has today.There is hardly a day goes by I do not think of her in some way as I am in my last year of teaching at EHS. I kept her podium when she retired and it survived the tornado. It is still with me as a reminder of her. I respected her so much as an educator but I had the privilege of loving her as a friend. Some of my fondest memories of the old school revolve around the antics in the teacher's lounge. She was always in the middle of it and one of the dryest wits I ever knew. Please know I will keep you all in my prayers these next few weeks and months and I will always keep her memory in my heart. Brenda B Stinson
