Mary Ruth Parton

Mary Ruth Parton, age 76 of Kingsport, entered into rest on Monday, March 26, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Parton was a Kingsport native and the daughter of the late Samuel Walter and Alice Velmer Phipps. She was a kind, loving and generous woman who was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Parton was of the Baptist faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Dean Parton, a daughter Alice Cox and one son, J.R. Parton, as well as one brother and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters: Teresa Parton and Pam Flitton and her husband Mike, one son Sam Parton; grandchildren: Joseph, James, Samantha, Alan, Mary Ann, Matthew and Sara Ann; great grandchildren: Ashley, Hunter, Cierra, Devon, Kaylee and Jeremiah; sisters: Louise McCracken, Jean Overbay, Betty Lloyd and Margie Jackson along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Clifford Crigger and Chap. Mike Pelham officiating. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m. for the service.
