Mary Gay Jones White , age 88, went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2025. She was born on August 21,1936, in Blountville, TN to the late George Jones and Fannie Ellen Slaughter Jones. She was married nearly 65 years to James A White.
She is survived by her three sons, James “Gene” White (Judy); Rick White (Diane); Chuck White(Kristi): grandchildren, Ricky White,Derrick White, Hunter White, Dillon White, and Kelsey White; and 6 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her brothers, Lewis Jones, Paul Jones and Ernie Jones.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Katherine “Needy” Carrier, brothers;Lonnie Jones, Allen Jones, Virgil Jones, George Jones, Phil Jones and great-granddaughter Alisha Faye White.
She was a member of Blountville Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, served in the ladies circle and sang in the choir for many years. She retired from the Sullivan County School System. Gay loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. Her favorite saying to visitors was “Welcome to the White House” We know Jesus has welcomed her home as enthusiastically as she did all that came into her home. She will be missed greatly and we look forward to seeing her again.
A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 5:00 PM at Charity Baptist Church, 123 Oak St, Blountville, TN. A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Dillon White will occur Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 7:00 PM. A burial will occur Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Hamlett Dobson, 2630 TN-75, Blountville, TN.
