Maudie "Granny" Jeanette Shepherd

Maudie Jeanette “Granny” Shepherd, 85, of Kingsport, TN departed this life to be with her Lord and departed family members at 6:30 a.m. Thursday (September 30, 2010) at The Wexford House.

Born in Chavies, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John Lee and Martha Alice Napier Shepherd, she has resided in this area most of her life.

Maudie has been involved in food services for many years and was of the Baptist faith.

She will be lovingly remembered by most as Granny.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 7 sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Crowther and son-in-law, Burl Reed of Kingsport; her son, Daniel Shepherd and wife Glenda of Miami, Florida; four grandchildren, Cory Shepherd, Laura Shepherd, Danella Campbell and husband Eric and Venus Tanner and fiancé, Tony Brown; great-grandchildren, Cory Shepherd, Jr., Aissa Shepherd, Noah Tanner, Eva Brown, Eliza Campbell, Seth Campbell and Aimee Campbell; her extended family includes Tracy Brooks and children, Rick Reed and children, Lisa Mallory and husband Jeff and their children; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday (October 3, 2010) at East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Pastor Steve Lay officiating. Inurnment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.
