Melvin “Mel” Hammond, age 73, of Kingsport, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Rogersville. Mr. Hammond was a Scott County, VA native, and the son of the late Melvin C. and Beulah Spears Hammond. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Kerns and two brothers: Frank Hammond and Melvin Lee Hammond.
Survivors include his children: Timothy A. Hammond, Jody Hammond, Tonya Comer and Melanie Hammond; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Marlin Hammond; two nephews; dear friend, Pam Duffer and the mother of his daughters, Pat Hammond.
Services will be private and held at a later date.
