2-Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. Michael Anthony Atkins, age 45, of Kingsport went to be with the Heavenly Father, surrounded by his family, after a short illness; on November 14, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hettie and Bill Atkins, Myrtle and John Haynes; sister, Gloria Arnold and great-niece, MaKayla Grindstaff. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Carla Jean Atkins, daughters, Jessica Atkins and husband Josh, Layla Atkins and Cassie Atkins; precious grandchildren, Ariel and Aaron Johnson, Henry and Briana Johnson; his parents, Betty and Paul Atkins; sister, Muriel Horne and husband Jerry; brother, Marvin Atkins; special nieces and nephews, Kristi Grindstaff, Kaitlyn Grindstaff, Angel Minor, Angie Gillenwater and husband Brian, Thomas Atkins and wife Lindsey. The family will receive friends at 428 Astor St. at any time. Visitation will be Saturday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel with Pastors John Walters and Paul Atkins officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.
