Michael “Mike” Wayne Owens, age 73, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1953, the son of the late Milburne Edward Owens and Flora Maxine Neal Owen. Mike dedicated 20 years of his life to serving our country in the U.S. Navy. Following his military career, he joined the maintenance team at American Water Heater. In his free time, Mike found joy in fishing trips with his beloved wife, Betty Lou. He loved the thrill of playing the slot machines and had a special affection for dogs. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Betty Lou Bragg Owens; brothers, Gary, Steve, and Ed Owens; along with nephews, other family members, friends, and man’s best friend, “Tiny”, who will truly miss him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A committal service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later time in the Garden of Gethsemane.
