Mildred F. Hodge

Mildred "Penny" Faye Hodge, age 89, of Sneedville, Tennessee, went to be with our lord on March 30, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 23, 1936, to the late Hubert Roy Johnson and Eulah Mae Johnson, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Penny was a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who spent many years providing compassionate care to others, first at Wexford House in Kingsport, to whom we wish to extend a special thanks, and later as an independent caregiver. Her passion for helping others was clear throughout her life, and she was always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Penny's family was her pride and joy, and her happiest moments came when she was surrounded by her children and loved ones. She cherished visits from her children and especially fondly remembered the moments spent with her late sister, Madge Johnson. Her children, Joey Livesay and his wife Melissa, Donna Finley, Terry Livesay and his wife Amy, Jamie Hodge, and the late Johnny Hodge, were the center of her world, and she took great pride in seeing them grow and thrive. Penny’s heart was also filled with love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Penny had a warm, generous spirit and was known for her love of life. Some of her fondest childhood memories were of playing basketball, and she never lost her sense of joy in simple pleasures, like sunbathing and spending time with her children. She was also very proud of her accomplishments, especially going back to school to earn her CNA license, something she worked hard to achieve later in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Marvin Livesay and Gene Hodge, her brother Roy Johnson, her sister Madge Johnson, her son Johnny Hodge, and her beloved grandparents Dr. Henry Trent, Betty Rose Thurman, Lafayette Johnson, and Fannie Johnson.

Penny is survived by her children: Joey Livesay, Donna Finley, Terry Livesay, and Jamie Hodge; her grandchildren: Joshua Livesay, Heather Massa, Jason Adams, Justin Adams, Jordan Adams, Chris Livesay, Brittany Jarvis-Comi Livesay, Luke Hodge, Hannah Hodge, Courtney Hodge, and Dillion Hodge; and her great-grandchildren: Jaxson Adams, Jaycob Adams, Launa Howerton-Adams, Lincoln Adams, Lucas Adams, Lanie Adams, Hayley Massa, Cash Livesay, Case Livesay, Lorelei Livesay, Bentlee Jarvis-Comi, Hadlee Jarvis-Comi, Charlie Walker Livesay, Henry Walker Livesay, and Baylor Walker.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Brad Shaffer officiating. A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ray Amos officiating. Penny will be remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
