

Mildred Payton Vaughn, age 87 of Kingsport, entered into rest on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was a Mitchell, Indiana native, but was raised Liberty, Kentucky before moving to Kingsport and was the daughter of the late Harrison and Frances Payton. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of Springdale Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Vaughn in 2007; brothers: James Payton and Eugene Payton; a sister, Ina Jean Hite; a great grandson, Jessie Crain and a son-in-law, Eddie Davenport.
Survivors include a son, Michael Vaughn and wife Becky; her daughters: Wanda “Lou” Barber and husband Mike, Gail Davenport, and Dinah Barber and husband Matt; grandchildren: Jody Barber, Susan Holton, Tracy Riordan, Tammy Oliver, Cheryl Crain, Lori Singleton, Robin Hopson, Amie Cornwell, Gordon Barber and Jason Barber; twenty-two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren as well as several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Vaughn will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Interment services will be conducted on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:45 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
