

Millard C. Peters, age 93 of Kingsport went home to meet his Savior on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Peters was a Scott County, Virginia native and the son of the late Floyd and Mary Peters. He retired as an operator from Eastman in 1974 and from Sullivan County Home for the Aged after 5 years of service. Mr. Peters was a member of Living Praise Assembly of God and was an honorary member of New Harvest Fellowship. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre as a Technical Sargent. Mr. Peters received the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the A.F. Theatre Ribbon and the Bronze Service Star. He loved to read his Bible, play the harmonica, loved to tinker with anything electrical and enjoyed taking care of his animals.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Maudie Belle Peters in 2001 after 62 years of marriage along with several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: a son David Peters; daughter Brenna Rhoton (Rocky); grandchildren: Byron Archer (Paula), Allen Archer (Heather) and Justin Peters; great grandchildren: Danielle Enders (Dan), Cassandra Moore (Ralieh) and Chrissy Hyatt; great-great grandchildren: Daniel, Madison, Matthew and Hannah.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor T.K. Simpson officiating. The eulogy will be read by his grandson, Allen Archer. Interment with Military Honors will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. for the service.
