

Muriel Jean Horne, 69, passed away July 20, 2026, surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 4, 1956, in Kingsport, Tennessee to Paul Atkins and the late Betty Atkins. Muriel graduated from Ketron High School. She retired from Wellmont Health System after over 40 years of service. She was of the Holiness faith, loved God, her family, and friends. She loved spending time with her family and reading books. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who be missed greatly by all who knew her.
In addition to her mother, Muriel was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Makayla Grindstaff; grandparents, Myrtle and John Haynes; Elijah Johnson, Bill and Hattie Atkins; sister, Gloria Arnold; and a brother, Michael Atkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 25 years, Jerry Horne; father, Paul Atkins, brother, Marvin Atkins; daughters, Kristi (John) Musgrove, Angel (Alan) Greer, and Jennifer (Mark) Puckett; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Grinstaff, Steven (Kariya) Puckett, and Aubree Puckett; great-grandchildren, Eli, Kayden, Zayne, Mazey, and Lucy. Muriel is also survived by several nieces and nephews to include Mindy, Thomas, Brantley, and Gracelynn.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at East Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 P.M. in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bo Westmoreland officiating. The committal service will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Mausoleum 2 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the committal are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M.
David Chastain, Dean Chastain, David Cole, Mark Puckett, John Musgrove, Donnie Ward, and Eugene Horne will serve as pallbearers.
