Myles was a devoted husband, doting grandfather, thoughtful friend, and former city manager, passed away peacefully after a life marked by intelligence, generosity, and quiet service to others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myles Joseph and Carmella "Millie" O'Reilly; his four brothers, Martin, Terry, Dennis, and Michael O'Reilly.
Myles' memory will continue to be cherished by his wife and best friend, Kathy O'Reilly; his children and their families, Mark Joseph Brunke and wife Christy (Michaela and Angelina), Donnie Tidwell and wife Lenise, Chris Tidwell and wife Stephanie, Zachary and Kassie Tidwell and their children Thomas and Charlotte Tidwell, Christopher and Erika Tidwell, Mercy Kelly, Brayden and Brooklyn Shaver, Kaleb Shaver, Jessica Tidwell and fiance George Houston (Jamie, Max, and Emily Rivera); numerous cousins, nephews, and friends.
Myles spent most of his professional life in Chicago, where he worked for Lakeshore Exhibit Company as a city manager. Known for his sharp mind and problem-solving skills, he approached his work with precision and integrity.
After retiring, Myles fulfilled a promise to his wife, Kathy, and the couple moved back to Tennessee. He remained active in the community, volunteering regularly at Kitchen of Hope and with Meals on Wheels. He also spent time at the local Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing ping pong and sharing his woodworking talents. One of his proudest projects was crafting a dulcimer for Kathy, which he inscribed simply: “For my love.”
Myles had a rare gift for numbers—he could often calculate a grocery bill to the penny before reaching the register. But beyond his intellect, he was known for his steady presence, willingness to help others, and genuine care for those around him.
An active member of Indian Springs Christian Church, Myles lived out his values quietly and consistently. He loved being outdoors, especially hiking, and always welcomed a new adventure.
Myles will be remembered not just for what he did, but for how he treated people—with respect, kindness, and humility.
Family-led services for Myles will take place on October 4th, 2025, 2:00 PM, at Indian Springs Christian Church, 5536 Kiowa St, Kingsport, TN 37664.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Meals On Wheels of Kingsport or Kingsport Kitchen of Hope.
East Lawn Funeral Home is honored to be serving the O'Reilly family.
