Nina Mae Hickman, 83, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Wexford House. She was born on May 30, 1935 in Stickleyville, VA, where she lived until moving to Kingsport in the 1960’s.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed. Nina was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. She retired from the Moose Lodge #972 of Kingsport.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Bobby Hickman; her parents, Nannie and Garvey Fields; and several brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her children; son Mike Hickman and wife Kim, daughter Tracie McKay and husband James, stepson Matt Hickman and wife Sue, stepdaughter Terri Holland and husband Dave; grandchildren, Mason McKay, Sydnee McKay, and Reagan Hickman; brother Hubert Goins and wife Ruby Ann; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with funeral services at 8:00 pm with Dr. Roy Graves officiating. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Everlasting. Pallbearers will be Mike Hickman, James McKay, Mason McKay, Mike Salyer, James Carr, and Wayne Goins. Honorary pallbearer Mathew Hickman.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff of the 300 wing of the Wexford House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Sunnyside Baptist Church Building Fund, 406 Cooks Valley Rd., Kingsport, TN 37664. Tracie and Mike it was such pleasure getting to care for your mom and getting to know you both and your families! I know your hearts are heavy but I have no doubt Nina is dancing in heaven pain free reunited with lots of loved ones. You all will continue to be in my prayers and hold a special place in my heart!

I am so sorry that I am out if town and I want to extend my deepest condolences to Mike and Tracie in their families in the loss of their precious Mom and my precious Aunt. I dearly loved Nina Mae and we were always close. Our heavenly Father decided to take her home. Hallelujah for that because she is no longer in pain and reunited with the love of her life her husband Bob. I k ow I will join her in heaven one day. Love you forever and always. Shirley.

Biography

Nina Mae Hickman was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Nina will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
