Oacluce Booher Ellis, of Blountville, TN, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born in Kingsport, TN, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Liberty Chapter #198. She served 4 years on the Sullivan County Executive Committee and was the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee of the Sullivan County Republic Organization; a member of the Bristol Tennessee Republican Women’s Club; Vice Chairperson of the State G.O.P. Executive Committee of Tennessee and served on the Administrative Committee. Mrs. Ellis served as co-chairperson for U.S. Senator Bill Frist; served on committees to elect Fred Thompson for U.S. Senate, Winfield Dunn for Governor, Don Sundquest for Governor, Jimmy Quillen for U.S. Congress, Jason Mumpower for State Representative, Steve Godsey for State Representative and Ron Ramsey for State Senator. She also served as co-chairperson for U.S. Senator Bill Frist.
Mrs. Ellis was honored by the TN Federation of Republican Women and Bristol Republican Women. She received The TFRW Circle of Honor for her dedication to Republican Principles, her valuable service to her club and the Federation and the Republican Party and for her spirit of volunteerism to her community, our state and the nation. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bristol, TN.
Survivors include her husband Dr. Donald H. Ellis; two daughters: Sharma Clonce Sherbank of Agoura Hills, CA., Marilyn Clonce Ward of Kingsport; son-in-law Mr. Les Ward; two nephews: Mr. Michael Booher of Jackson, TN and Mr. Timothy Booher of El Cerrito, CA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 4:30 pm. Until 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Gordon Turnbell and Pastor David Salley officiating. Interment services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Clark, Michael Booher, Eddie Allison, Senator Jim Holcomb, Dr. Allen Stevens and Brady Richards. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Booher, Jason Mumpower, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, Mr. Fred Esser and Honorable, Robert Montgomery. Everyone is asked to assemble in the cemetery by 10:15 a.m. for the service. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
