

Peggy Jo Carr, 84, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday (October 30, 2016) following an extended illness. Peggy was born on April 12, 1932 to the late Clyde & Laura Mae (Hendrickson) Mottern in Piney Flats, TN. Peggy was known for her seamstress skills. She enjoyed attending craft shows with her husband, Hobert. She was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend; she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her two sisters, Elizabeth Haynes and Ruth Powers. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Bobby Hobert Carr; son, Jeffery Carr & wife Wren; two daughters, Cindy Leonard & husband Kenneth and Judy DeHart & husband Timothy; sister, Melba White; six grandchildren, Corey & wife Jess Leonard, Jessica Leonard, Amie McDonald & husband Jeff, Jody Blevins & husband Robert, Robert DeHart, and Jennifer Julian & husband Scott; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Carr; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday (November 1, 2016) from 6 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home at 7 p.m. with Pastor Marlin Jaynes officiating. Committal services will be held Wednesday (November 2, 2016) at 2 p.m. in the Garden of Gethsemane at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, Tennessee.
