He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all. Perman served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from American Flat Glass and as an EMT from the Church Hill Rescue Squad. Perman will be remembered as an avid checkers player.
Perman was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Shelton; his parents, Bethel and Patterson Shelton; and sisters, Lois Bass, Maxine Darnell, and Bobbi Arwood.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 17 years, Zinda Shelton; daughter, Rebecca Barrett and husband Jeffery; son, Perman R. Shelton, Jr. and wife Paula; granddaughters, Stephanie and Josephine Barrett and Morgan Shelton Fleming and husband Chase; and sisters, Shirley Wood and Lou Bean and husband Bob.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:30pm with Pastors Ed McClain and James Adams officiating.
Perman will be laid to rest on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00am at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Prayer. The American Legion Post 3/265 will convey military rites.
