Robert Edward Johnson, Sr., 73, passed away during the evening hours of Sunday (March 4, 2018). Bob was born on December 6, 1944 in Lenoir City, TN to the late Ernest & Mary Elizabeth Johnson.

Bob retired from TWT after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane McMillan Johnson; daughter, Sonja Johnson; sisters, Mary Burns and Ellen Johnson; brother, David Johnson; and nephew, Billy Veal.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary Easler Johnson; son, Bobby Johnson, Jr. & wife Andrea; daughters, Missie Wilson & husband Alvin, Beth Johnson & wife Jo; brothers, Stanley Johnson, John R. Johnson, Ernie Johnson, and Don Johnson; sister, Alice Bivens; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several brother and sister-in-laws, several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will greet guests and share memories on Thursday (March 8, 2018) from noon to 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of East Lawn at 2 p.m. with Pastor Eddie McAmis officiating.

Bob will be laid to rest on Thursday (March 8, 2018) at 3 p.m. in the Garden of Gethsemane at East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Johnson, Dalton Johnson, Shawn Wilson, Josh Wilson, Alvin Wilson, Bryan Johnson, Michael Easler, and Richard Easler.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105; www.stjude.org; 800-873-6983) or to American Cancer Society (Johnson City Office 508 Princeton Rd. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May God be with u all as he took an angel home. May he comfort u when u need it the most. I look back on my childhood days when I would spend time on the farm with Uncle Ernest and Aunt Elizabeth and my cousins. These memory's are all we have and Bobby you will be missed. To the family I am so sorry for your loss but God is a great God and he has promised to wipe away our tears of sorrow and give us peace in knowing that he is in control. Robert Edward Johnson, Sr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Robert will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
