Robin M. Carter, age 62; of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday (December 27, 2019) at her home. She was born on August 3, 1957 in Kingsport, TN to Geneva Ellis & Roby Humphry. She married her longtime friend and love of her life, Rusty Carter in 1983 who preceded her in death in 2006.

Robin was a caregiver. Not only was it her profession but it was her passion. Robin was a kind soul who would do anything for a person in need. She especially loved her six grandchildren and was always smothering them in love. Robin loved Christmas and loved to spoil her family around the holidays. She also loved to cook and had a baker’s touch that can't be touched.

For nearly 25 years, Robin was a foster parent for TRACES. Her home was first opened to a teenager in 1993 and it didn't stop there. Over the years, Robin would foster over 100 children and welcome them into her home with love. It suited her loving heart. Her life was a true example of the kindness that flowed from her.

Robin is survived by her mother Geneva "Nanner" Ellis; two daughters; Nekesha Carter-Williams & husband Chris and Layne Carter-Haywood; one son, Marcus Carter & wife Harley Logan-Carter; six grandchildren, Angelina O'Connor, Payton and Natalie Williams, Taryn and Amaya Haywood, and Kylah Carter; and one very special aunt, Wanda Hunt-Arnold and husband Jack.

Aunt Robin will be missed. She was always so very kind, loving, and selfless. I will never forget how much she loved Christmas and how excited she was the first time I ever saw snow at her house and got to play in it. We are praying for you and pray God gives you comfort and peace during this time.

Robin and her parents were our next door neighbor for many years in Bridwell Heights. I am not at all surprised to read of her passion in caring for others. As a child she had a tender caring heart. Geneva and children we are so sorry for your loss. You are all in our hearts and prayers. ~ Jeanie Frady Starnes ~

I remember growing up and doing dance and softball and Robin was a mom that was always present. She was busy. She was a angel here on earth that fostered and showed so many love for the first time. I remember riding in the van with her and the girls to go to sporting events and we always laughed so hard that Robin had to pee. Her laugh was infectious and her personality was gold. Heaven gained a angel and earth lost a saint. God bless the Carter family and thank you for always being a safe place full of love. You will always be remembered lovingly. May God welcome you with open arms into paradise and you finally get to see again those who went before you. I love you Robin.
