

He was born September 25, 1922, in Virginia City, Virginia, and was the son of the late Robert Jackson and Dollie Emma Jones Talbert. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of Kingsport Community Church, and was a retired chemist from Mead Paper Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nettie Sawyer Talbert; a brother, Woodrow W. Talbert; stepmother, Anna Talbert; a step-brother, Paul Suits; and a step-sister, Naomi Suits Peters.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Linda and Ron McEwen of Kingsport, Tennessee; a son and his wife, Mark and Claudine Talbert of Statesville; grandchildren, Shauna Arnold and her husband, Jon, Lindsey McEwen, and Matt Talbert; a brother, Jack Talbert and his wife, Carol; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Roy’s life will be held at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Lowe and Ron McEwen officiating with music provided by Mark Stayton.
Graveside services will immediately follow in the Garden of the Apostles of East Lawn Memorial Park.
