He was born January 13, 1948 to the late Reverend Rex and Stella Moore Winstead. Roy was saved as a teenager at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. He was always willing to tell about the plan of salvation to anyone he met.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Bill, and Wayne; sisters, Loretta, Mildred, and Lois.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Rhoten Winstead; sons, Christopher (Deborah) Winstead and Michael Winstead; grandsons, whom he loved dearly, Austin, Ayden, Elijah “Eli,” and Turner.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend Wayne Baker officiating. Roy’s sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
