Ruby Loretta Jones Barrett

Ruby Loretta Jones Barrett, 95, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Holston Manor in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was a current resident of Preston Place Assisted Living in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School and a member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church in Kingsport, TN. In her early married years she resided in Oak Ridge, Tennessee with her husband and daughter Charlotte. Her husband was one of the pioneers in the development of the atomic bomb that was built to end World War II. She spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader for her two daughters, Charlotte and Sandra. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Mona Jones; husband, Stuart Barrett; daughter, Sandra Barr; sister, Kathleen Jones; and brother, Paul Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Barker and her husband, Jackie Barker of Blythewood, SC and son-in-law, James Barr of Fayetteville, NC. Grandchildren, Cynthia Stalvey and husband Marty of Chattanooga, TN; Andrea Forbis and husband John of Cary, NC, Jennifer Mosley and husband Billy of Blythewood, SC and Michael Barker and wife Julie of Blythewood, SC. Great grandchildren, Peyton and Bryson Eddy of Chattanooga, TN, Alexa and Anna Forbis of Cary, NC, Brooke and Brody Barker of Blythewood, SC and Zachary McMillan of Columbia, SC and Hayden Mosley of Blythewood, SC; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Preston Place for the loving care they gave her. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Christus Garden at East Lawn Memorial Park.
