Ruby New Carter

Ruby N. Carter, age 90, entered into rest June 15, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 13, 1920 in Virginia to James Thomas New and Ettie Mae Stewart New, and had resided in Kingsport most of her life.

She was a homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years of marriage, Herbert L. Carter, and her son, Robert Lewis Carter. Survivors include two sons James L. Carter and his wife Charlotte, Gerald L. Carter, four daughters Nannie Harmon, Treva J. Wire, Brenda M. Morelock, Sharon S. Goss all of Kingsport, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, and one brother Willard New of Kingsport. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday (today) at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Brickey officiating. Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
