Sally Hale

December 4, 1951February 13, 2021

Sally Hale, 69, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2021. She was born on December 4, 1951, in Evansville, IN, to the late John W. Dail and Carol Ann (Gabbert) Dail.

Sally taught the first grade class at Cedar View Christian School from 1984 - 1999 and was an active member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. She loved all animals, and was especially partial to the American Eskimo breed. She helped rescue many animals in need, helping them to find better lives in caring homes. She never went long without a furry companion at her side.

Survivors include her son John W. Hale and daughter-in-law Julie Rushing; sister Susy Sanders; brother Bobby Dail; nieces Kristen Clevidence, Stephanie Sanders, and Shelby Sanders; and nephew Austin Dail.

Sally will be laid to rest in the Garden of Eternal Life in East Lawn Memorial Park during a Graveside Service on Friday February 19, 2021, beginning at 2:00pm. The service will be officiated by Rev. John Herdman.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Sally's life by sending a donation in her memory to either: Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church Faith Mission Fund, PO Box 8247, 197 Suncrest St., Gray, TN 37615, (423) 477-3311; or American Eskimo Rescue of St. Louis, PO Box 190523, St. Louis, MO 63119,

Sally's family will forever be grateful for the front-line medical personnel at Johnson City Medical Center who have spent the last year providing dedicated, selfless care to the region in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. These heroes have seen the worst of this disease and deserve our continued diligence in taking appropriate precautions to minimize the risk of infecting our loved ones and those most at risk.

Sally was an esteemed teacher colleague at Cedar View Christian School. She taught my son Josh, and her son John was one of MY top students. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great conversationalist. I loved knowing her, as well as teaching in the same school with her. Prayers of comfort to John and family and all those loved Sally.

Sally you lived a life of service to others. You taught 1st grade & supported their parents & the children, when needed. You had a passion to help rescue dogs that were in bad situations & needed your compassion & love! You served your church with your musical talent & all these things take a big commitment of your time. You were a mom & JW is probably the biggest love of your life, along with the rest of your family & your grandchildren. I will always remember you for rescuing Foxie, an abondoned American Eskimo puppy that was starving & had been abused by people who didn't want her around their homes & shops. You discovered we were looking for another rescue & let me know she was ours if we wanted her. We drove from MO to TN to pick her up the next weekend & when we arrived you so hospitable, sweet & kind to people you only knew by being online friends for 2 yrs. even though you had a houseful of rescued Eskies, about 8-10 plus a few cats. Foxie was very loved & gave us many years of joy & happy memories. We have stayed online friends for 16+ yrs. and I will miss you & our conversations.
Rest in Peace, Sally Hale our world will not be as bright or happy without you in it. But now you are a new being, happy & healthy for all eternity! Bet all those rescued dogs, including our Foxie were there to greet you at the Rainbow Bridge! Will see you again 1 day! R.I.P.

My deepest sympathy to John and the rest of Sally's family!
I never met Sally, in person, but we spent many years communicating with each other about our rescues of American Eskimo dogs, and arranging transports, to get dogs from one place to new forever or foster homes!
The rescue community has lost another "Rescue Angel"!
What a happy reunion there will be at the Rainbow Bridge, when Sally arrives!

So very sorry for the loss of Sally. She was a good friend & faithful to the Lord & Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. She was an example to us all and a great addition to our small church orchestra and Sunday School class, always with a smile & encouraging comment. Your Lord has received you now and you are healed. May God bless and comfort you John, and the rest of the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏

So sad to hear of the passing of one of my teachers. She was always so nice to me. And she was so full of life. She was a very special person.
