Sophia “Tommie” McClain, age 78, entered into rest November 14, 2012 at Church Hill Life Care Center. Tommie was born in Cleveland, VA and had resided in Kingsport for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac “Pete” McClain. Survivors include one son, Mike McClain and wife Janet of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two daughters, Judy Pennington and husband Bob of Mt. Carmel, Vickie McGinnis and husband Rick of Greeneville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Scottie Deel of Kingsport; one sister, Dorothy Vaughn of Tallahassee, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. Pastor J.D. DePew will be officiating. Entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.
