Stephen Alan Mingle

Stephen Alan Mingle, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 21, 2026. He was born on December 20, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee, to India Rucker Mingle and David Rice Mingle. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his treasured daughter, Melissa Anne Mingle.

Stephen, lovingly known as Steve, is survived by his devoted wife, Debi, with whom he shared a remarkable 55-year journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they raised their children, Michael, Matthew, and Melissa. Following Melissa's passing in 2019, Steve and Debi lovingly adopted her son, Landon, and raised him as their own.

His legacy continues through his sons, Michael and Matthew; their wives, Paige and Miranda; his grandson and beloved adopted son, Landon; his grandchildren, Emily Pierson (Scotty), Stephen Mingle, Jonathan Mingle, Alexander Mingle, Christopher Mingle, and David Mingle; and his precious great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Jacen Pierson. He is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Tucker (Gary), Margie Crouch (Tim), and Glenn Mingle.

A proud graduate of Glencliff High School, Steve continued his education at Tennessee Tech University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering. He enjoyed a dedicated and successful career as a civil engineer with Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee, until his retirement.

Steve was a devoted member of Northeast Church of Christ for more than 50 years. His faith, kindness, and commitment to serving others were evident to all who knew him. He enjoyed golf, tennis, baseball, and football, and was a passionate supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on the Vols and proudly wear Tennessee orange. Yet, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing countless moments of play, laughter, and love.

Steve had a special gift for making everyone feel valued and important. His generosity, unwavering faith, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched countless lives. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, hard work, faith, and devotion to family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Visitation will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home , 4997 Memorial Blvd , Kingsport , TN 37664, on October 2, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at East Lawn Funeral Home, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664, on October 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm.  

A Committal Service will take place at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664, US, on October 2, 2026.
