

Velma Jean Bailey Waldron, 71, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at her residence with her loving husband by her side. Mrs. Waldron was born on August 27, 1942 in Cranberry, West Virginia the daughter of the late Dorvin Richmond Bailey and Euva Davada Hillman Bailey. She served alongside of her husband for many years as he was Pastor of several churches. Mrs. Waldron retired from Brookhaven Nursing Home and was a fifty-six year member of the First Apostolic Christian Church where she loved worshipping and serving with her church family. She was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, loving sister and aunt. She spent many hours on her knees praying for her family and friends, and was always there for her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Mrs. Waldron was preceded in death by her infant twin sisters Christine and Kathaleen Bailey, her sister Lois Bailey Jones (Herbert); brothers, Ray Bailey, Harold Bailey (Flora) and Rodney “Ikey” Bailey; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Kathaleen Waldron; and sister-in-law, Irene Waldron. Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Joel Ray Waldron, Sr.; two sons, Larry Lynn Waldron (Susan) of Blackstone, VA and Joel Ray Waldron, Jr. of Jarratt, VA; six grandchildren, Larry “’Willie” Waldron, Steve Waldron (Ashleigh), Nick Waldron, Chris Waldron, Tracie Waldron and Cyndi Pilon; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert “Pete” Bailey (Marguerite), and Roger “Mike” Bailey (Faye); two sisters, Ann B. Frazier (Bill) and Linda B. Hicks (Jim); two brother-in-laws, Jack Waldron and Homer Waldron; three sister-in-laws, Barbara Bailey, Ruby Bailey and Bethel Rowe; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion Thunder. The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at First Apostolic Christian Church, 201 E Stone Drive, Kingsport, TN. or any other time at 323 Iris Drive, Kingsport, TN. Funeral Services for Mrs. Velma Jean Bailey Waldron will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 at 7:00pm at First Apostolic Christian Church with Pastor Tommy Benton and Pastor Freddie Redman officiating. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00am in the Garden of Everlasting Life I at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Apostolic Christian Church, 201 E Stone Drive, Kingsport, TN. 37660.
