Jenny was born on April 29, 1934, in Bluff City, Tennessee, to Margaret “Maggie” (Gross) Potts and Walter Potts. She was raised in Bloomingdale and spent nearly all of her adult life there before moving to Maryland in December 2023.
On February 13, 1952, Jenny married the love of her life, Jimmie Lee Vaughn. They shared 64 years of marriage before he went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2017. Their love was unwavering, gentle, and Christ-centered, and now they are joyfully reunited in His presence.
Jenny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was rooted in faith, family, and quiet acts of love. A homemaker all her life, she created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, tenderness, and the simple joys that come from a life faithfully lived. She especially enjoyed birdwatching, tending to flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family—who were truly her greatest treasure.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jimmie; her son, Jimmie Wayne “Bud” Vaughn; her grandson, Shane Vaughn; her brothers, James “Jack” Potts, Larry Potts, Charles Potts, and David Potts; and her sisters, Betty Lou Ketron, Mary Casey, Judy Hall, and Louise McMillian. She is now reunited with them all in Glory.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, Debra (Gary) Dove of Solomons, Maryland; her son, Michael “Bo” Vaughn of Kingsport, Tennessee; eight grandchildren—Dennis, Tamara, Jennifer, Angie, Kerri, Dylan, Ariel, and London—and eight great-grandchildren—Matthew, Gwen, Callie, Megan, Luke, Liam, Noah, and Grey—along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM and burial at 3:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664.
While our hearts feel the ache of her absence, we rejoice in the blessed hope of Christ’s promise—that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Jenny has finished her earthly race with grace, and her gentle spirit, kindness, and unshakeable love for her family will continue to live on in every life she touched.
