William Thomas Barbrow, 89, passed away peacefully at Johnston Memorial Hospital Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was born on August 27,1929 in Saltville, Virginia. Mr. Barbrow was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Westinghouse Corporation after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Glade Spring Church of God of Prophecy for over six decades where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whom always placed God and his family first. Next to God and his family, his greatest joy was his “puppy dog”, Chance, whom he cared for deeply until Chance crossed the rainbow bridge in October 2018.
Mr. Barbrow was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Daisy Gentry Barbrow, his parents, Albert and Rosa Barbrow, two brothers, Clifton and Herbert, and one sister, Ovella Burnett. Surviving are his two sons, Michael Barbrow & wife Wanda, and Mark Barbrow; five grandchildren, Heather Barnett & husband Chad, Aaron Barbrow, Brittany Cannon, Sage McMurray & husband Daniel and Hunter Barbrow; five great-grandchildren, Jace and Makenzie Cannon, Clayton and Cameron Barbrow and Dalton Barnett; brother, Larry Warren Barbrow and wife Midge; also surviving are several nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at The Church of God of Prophecy, Glade Spring (302 Crescent Drive, Glade Spring, Virginia 24340) with Rev. Danny Mefford officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.
Interment will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery (10069 Crescent Road, Glade Spring, Virginia 24340) on Tuesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. Military Honors provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
