

Armando S. Rodriguez, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012, at the age of 90. He was born on October 1, 1921, to Jose and Elena Salinas Rodriguez in Concepcion, Texas. Armando served his country in the United States Army. Having fought in the Pacific for five years, he was a highly decorated veteran of World War II. Armando was a 1st Sargent and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was awarded three Bronze Stars in the Asiatic Campaign and two Bronze Stars in the Philippine Liberation. In addition, Armando was a Sharp Shooter and earned the Infantry Badge. After his service in the Army, Mr. Rodriguez was a teacher with Kingsville ISD, retiring after teaching for over thirty-four years.
Armando was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-five years, Eva S. Rodriguez; his parents; and his sisters, Zoila Rodriguez and Maria De Jesus “Bebe” Martinez. Armando is survived by one son, Jose Armando (Baudilia) Rodriguez of McAllen, Texas; one daughter, Eva (Artie) Arce of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren: Eva Maria Arce, ReGina Rafaela (Doug) McClendon, Arturo Xavier Arce and Raul Armando (Emily Spurgin, fiancé) Rodriguez and two nephews, Humberto Martinez and Max Martinez.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow
the service at Resthaven Cemetery with full Military Honors.
