

Arturo “La Perica” Velasquez-Perez went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 3, 2013. He was born December 3, 1929 in Tampico, Mexico to Isabel G. Parks and Arturo Perez. Arturo leaves many fond memories for his children to treasure. He was a hard working and humble father and friend to all. Arturo was well known to the Hispanic community as a radio announcer with La Tejanita – KINE & KFLZ. La Perica y Su Conjunto toured and recorded songs in the 1960’s. By profession, he was an auto paint and body man with Dodge Town & K.A. Childs. His passion was being a soccer coach in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marcelo Perez; two sisters, Rosa M. Mercado and Maria Arcelia Vasquez.
Arturo is survived by six children, Mary Ann Cantu (Jaime) and Arturo Perez (Nellie), both of Kingsville, David Perez (Adriana) of Harlingen, Katherine Perez (Ernesto) of Riviera, Joseph Perez (Laura) of Kingsville and Elizabeth Perez of Waco; 15 grandchildren, Erica Marcial (Eric), Jessica Solis (Kore), Monica Cantu, Oscar Cantu, Sylvia Cantu, Arturo Perez III, Olivia Perez, Raymond Perez, Patricia Lerma (Orlando), Victor DeLeon (Marissa), Felicia Cadena, Lucas Perez, Dominic Perez, Gabriella Perez and Johnathan Perez; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Central Baptist Church, 901 East Henrietta, Kingsville with Pastor Servando Torres Jr. officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
