

Carolyn Elizabeth Mitchell, age 96, a resident of San Antonio, Texas and a former resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 in San Antonio. She was born January 7, 1917 in Mountain Home, Texas to T.A. Duderstadt and Elizabeth Spellmann Duderstadt. Mrs. Mitchell was employed for the Kingsville Independent School District until her retirement in 1980. She taught at Colston Elementary School. She was a member of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association and The Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of ladies auxiliary of Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death in 1979 by her husband, Milledge Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by one daughter, Marie Kiser (Rex) of Castroville, Texas; one son, Milledge Mitchell Jr. (Betty) of College Station, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, 120 North Fourth Street, Kingsville, with Rev. Jim M. Curran officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 553, Kingsville, Texas 78364 or a charity of one’s choice. Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
