

Emede “Mandy” Hinojosa, age 76, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Kingsville. He was born November 21, 1936 in Rios, Texas to Rufino Hinojosa and Eva Martinez Hinojosa. Mr. Hinojosa was a race horse jockey for 30 years until his retirement. He started racing in San Diego, Texas, Louisiana, Illinois, Arkansas and other states. After his retirement, he started his second career at Texas A&M University – Kingsville in the physical plant. He was a member of the Jockey Guild for 50 years. Emede was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan Hinojosa of Kingsville; one son, Mandy Wade Hinojosa of Kingsville; two grandchildren, Amanda Hinojosa of Corpus Christi, Texas and Clarissa Hinojosa of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Rufino Hinojosa (Berta) of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Luis Hinojosa (Linda) of Burleson, Texas; and four sisters, Albesa Lozano of Kingsville, Ninfa Garcia (Armando) of Harlingen, Texas, Olga Vela of Alice, Texas and Elsa (Ernesto) Hinojosa of Kingsville, Texas. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
