Helen June Smith

Helen June Hammett Smith, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Kingsville, Texas at the age of 90. She was born May 23, 1922 in Delta County, Texas to Nuce and Vera Wright Hammett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, C.D. Hammett. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 66 years (married: February 5, 1947), Joe A. Smith of Bishop; son, D.J. Smith (Shae); grandsons, Adam Smith (Kristy) and Kelsey Smith (Skylar), all of Corpus Christi; special friend, Azalea Jimenez of Kingsville; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Huey (Mickey) of Bishop and Judy Wood (Richard) of Kingsville.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Cooper, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kleberg County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 316 East General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas 78363. Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
