James Bartley Spear

James Bartley Spear, age 75, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Kingsville. He was born November 26, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri to John M. Spear and Julia Knapp Spear. Mr. Spear was employed for the King Ranch from 1979-1997 as Vice-President of Internal audits until his retirement. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Spear was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Mr. Spear was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by three sons, J. Bartley Spear Jr. of Cameron, Missouri, Bentley A. Spear of Kingsville and Philip B. Spear (Waleta) of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Bernard Spear (Sarah) of Mission, Kansas, Ernest Spear (Ada) of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Betty Surak (John) of Chicago, Illinois and Harriet Anne Dade (Ron) of Washington, D.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
