

Leo Burnard Schwirtlich, age 87, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Kingsville. He was born August 2, 1925 in Windthorst, Texas to Joe Schwirtlich and Otillia Wimmer Schwirtlich. Mr. Schwirtlich was employed for 37 years at Celanese Corporation until his retirement. He was a faithful member of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church and was a 65 year member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Schwirtlich of Kingsville; one daughter, Cathy Sims (Gordon) of Bishop, Texas; one son, Charlie Schwirtlich (Cindy) of Bay City, Texas; two brothers, Sylvester Schwirtlich of Lake Jackson, Texas and Eddie Schwirtlich (Jean) of Corpus Christi, Texas; three sisters, Rosina Buckholt of Boerne, Texas, Rosalie Frantz (Howard) of Houston, Texas and Doris Jones (Johnny) of Wimberley, Texas; four grandchildren, Jamie Ballard (Rusty), Tara Burney (Heath), Russell Schwirtlich (Tiff), and Brooke Schwirtlich; and four great-grandchildren, Kendal Burney, Kaylen Burney, Cheyanne Ballard and Breanne Ballard.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
