Maria Aurora Perez

Aurora Perez, age 72, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away with her family at her side from cancer on Friday, June 24, 2011. The eldest of 12 children, she was born on November 21, 1938 in La Villa de Zaragosa, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Irineo Torres and Julia Hernandez. Aurora was a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Aurora enjoyed spending time with her family, drinking coffee, talking to her sister Juaquina, sewing, caring for her plants, taking her dog for walks and going to the “maquinitas” with her “Honey.” She also had a passion for making tamales and pan de polvo during the Christmas holiday season.

She was preceded in death on May 29, 2009 by her beloved husband and “Honey” of 44 years, Mario H. Perez; and her father, Irineo Torres.

Aurora is survived by two daughters, Rosie Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Melinda (Roberto) Hinojos of Alpine, Texas; son, Mario G. (Monica) Perez of Corpus Christi; mother, Julia Hernandez Torres; 11 brothers and sisters, Gregorio Torres, Nicolas Torres, Juaquina Robles, Macario Torres, Felipe Torres, Mercedes Manriquez, Eduardo Torres, Irineo Torres, Elvira Rodela, Jose Torres and David Torres; five grandchildren, Sergio Hinojos, Elisa Hinojos and Alex Hinojos, all of Alpine, Nikole Aleman of Kingsville and Rebecca Perez of Corpus Christi; numerous extended family and friends; and faithful dog, Tony.

Visitation will take place after 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Fr. P. Nolasco Hinojosa Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
